TAUCO Pod Construction & Materials

1) Structural frame — built for lifting stability and finish protection

TAUCO bathroom pods are built on a galvanised structural steel frame (not light-gauge framing).
All steel members are fully welded, welds are treated, and the frame is then powder coated for durability and corrosion protection.
Why this matters
• Higher rigidity and better structural stability during transport and lifting
• Reduced risk of frame movement during installation
• Helps protect brittle finishes (such as tiles and stone) from movement-related cracking
• More reliable dimensional stability for repeated modular production
TAUCO uses a structural steel frame specifically to prioritise stability, lifting performance and finish durability. The NCC also explicitly recognises structural behaviour (including deflection and vibration) as a core performance concern.

2) Certified plumbing products and Australian-compliant materials

All plumbing fixtures and water-related components used in TAUCO pods are WaterMark certified, and other materials are selected to comply with relevant Australian Standards / NCC requirements.
•WaterMark is the mandatory Australian certification scheme for specified plumbing and drainage products
•It confirms products are fit for purpose and authorised for Australia

3) Waterproofing options (two systems)

TAUCO offers two waterproofing pathways to suit project requirements:
Option A — waterproofing membrane
Using proven systems such as:
• MAPEI
• ARDEX
This option is suitable for projects that prefer a traditional membrane system using recognised brands.
Option B — Waterproof backer board system (CodeMark-based solution)
TAUCO also offers a waterproof backer board system using a CodeMark-certified board system, used as the substrate/base board.
Board composition (typical system characteristics)
• XPS rigid foam core (waterproof and insulating)
• Fibreglass mesh reinforcement
• Cementitious / modified cement coating on both faces
• Lightweight, rigid and suitable for tile finishes
• Can be used over suitable load-bearing substrates
This type of board system is designed to deliver:
• Fast installation
• Consistent waterproofing performance
• Reduced dependence on site workmanship quality
• Lower rework risk versus traditional multi-step waterproofing builds

4) Large-format wall finishes

TAUCO pod wall finishes use large-format tiles or sintered stone panels, typically:
• 600 x 1200 mm minimum, or
• Larger formats where specified
This helps deliver:
• A cleaner, more premium finish
• Fewer grout joints
• Easier cleaning and maintenance
• Better visual consistency across projects

5) Cabinetry board specification

All TAUCO cabinetry use E0-grade OSB-based cabinet board.
Benefits
• Low formaldehyde emissions
• Good dimensional stability
• Suitable for modular manufacturing environments
• Strong, durable substrate for cabinetry construction

Why this specification approach matters

TAUCO’s material and construction choices are designed to improve:
• Installation reliability
• Waterproofing consistency
• Finish durability
• Compliance confidence
• Whole-of-project quality outcomes
